Windsucker; had colic surgery February 2018
Gold Rush
**Note that this mare is currently located in New Zealand at Mapperley Stud**
Pedigree Pointers:
The only 2yo Group winning son or daughter of So You Think.
The second foal of $400,000 earner GOLD ROCKS, GOLD RUSH took only three starts to join her mother as a Group Two winning 2yo in the Matamata Breeder Stakes, becoming So You Think’s first and to date only 2yo Group winner. She raced only three more times before being retired to stud.
Incredibly, Gold Rush’s younger half-sister (by SAVABEEL) followed up the next year to also win the Group Two Breeders Stakes (going on to place in the Group One Sistema Stakes) while Gold Rocks’ first foal CALAVERITE (by LONHRO) was also a 2yo stakes winner. She is now in the hands of Darley as a broodmare and is in foal to EXCEED AND EXCEL.
Gold Rocks’ latest 2yo is the Sacred Falls colt Tommy Gold – trained by John O’Shea, he ran fourth in the Victory Vein before finishing midfield in the Group Two Skyline Stakes. Her yearling colt by Savabeel made $500,000 this year at Karaka.
Gold Rush’s first foal is a yearling colt by Savabeel who has been retained to race by Rosemont – she was sent back to New Zealand last season to return to Savabeel and in between she foaled a magnificent I AM INVINCIBLE filly who will be a star offering at Karaka next year.
Clearly a family blessed with an abundance of 2yo speed, Gold Rush presents as the perfect broodmare for the Australian market. Entirely free of Danehill and Danzig, she can be covered by nearly any stallion and as a 6yo mare, she still has her entire career ahead of her.
Studmaster Notes:
Height: 15.2hh
Uncomplicated mare, straight forward breeder.
This mare had colic surgery in February 2018 to correct a pelvic flexure impaction shortly after arriving back from New Zealand. She had an uncomplicated recovery and has not had a reoccurrence of colic since.
Has been seen to windsuck.
